Carolina F1RSTS (First-Gen Undergrads) Advocate Training

As a Carolina Firsts Advocate, you will join a committed group of professionals dedicated to student success, appreciating the experiences of first-generation college students, and supporting students on their path to graduation. We currently have advocates from over 50 departments at UNC-Chapel Hill. Please view our list of Advocates and consider becoming an Advocate today! You can make a difference in the life of a Carolina First. This training is open to graduate and professional students, staff, and faculty.
The training will include:
- An overview of the experiences of first-generation college students at Carolina
- A discussion of barriers to college completion
- A discussion of factors linked to college persistence and completion
- Features of effective college programs and supports
- University resources
